Raul Cunca was born in Lisbon in the year 1963.
Designer and associate professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, he also teaches at the Sapienza Università di Roma Facoltà di Architettura.
He has developed design activities in different areas (Product, Museography and Urban Equipment) since 1986, collaborating with companies and institutions in Europe. Awarded several times, his projects have been published in national and foreign magazines.
Participating regularly in exhibitions in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, USA and Japan, integrating the Portuguese Pavilion at the XXI Triennial of Milan and the 5th Ibero-American Design Biennial – bid 16.
In 2014 the Casa da Cerca – Center of Contemporary Art in Portugal realizes the retrospective exhibition – Raul Cunca. The plural design – and edits the monograph with the same title dedicated to his work. In 2015, he conceived the MPB chair, designed to be used by the Brazilian singer-songwriter Chico Buarque during his live performances, in the ambit of the Art on Chairs event.
Created the Colomba chair in collaboration with Burel Mountain Originals.
