Soraia Gomes Teixeira
Soraia Gomes Teixeira was born in 1990 in Oporto, Portugal.
With a Master’s degree in Product Design from the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha (2015) and Bachelor in Industrial Design by the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (2012), Soraia was one of the selected designers by Serralves Foundation’s store to participate in the POP’s (projects of Portuguese origin) in 2014. In the same year, she is chosen for the Exhibition of Young Portuguese Creators while in 2015 represents Portugal in Equipment Design’s category at the VII Biennial of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries in Maputo, Mozambique.
In 2017 she collaborates with the CIszak Dalmas studio in Madrid and becomes teaching assistant at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. In 2018 Soraia is distinguished by the renowned magazine Domus for her work “Movimento Marcado.” In turn, the association with Burel Mountain Originals culminated in the conception of ‘Xia Stool’: a unique piece with with a burel-coated bellows that emits sound when pressed.
